Aquaintance with results of projects implemented in Sortavala

On April 29, 2021, the representatives of management authorities of the Karelia CBC Programme - Alla Agapova, Advisor of the Ministry of Economic Development of the Russian
Federation, Aleksey Tsvetkov, Head of the Department of the Ministry of Economic Development and Industry of the Republic of Karelia, Dmitry Bazegsky, Head of the BO of the Karelia CBC Programme in Petrozavodsk, Valentina Chaplinskaya, expert on LIPs - got acquainted with the results of projects implemented in the Sortavalsky Municipal District. During the visit, the main attention was paid to the inspection of the municipal water intake of Sortavala, wastewater treatment plant and municipal water intake of Kaalamo, which are being reconstructed by “Karelvodokanal Ltd.” within the large infrastructure projects.
The installation of the municipal water intake was completed and new equipment at the pumping stations of the 1st and 2nd lift in Sortavala was tested. By the end of the year, the two remaining wastewater outlets going into Lake Ladoga will be shutted down. As a result of the projects, drinking water in Sortavala will meet high quality standards, and Lake Ladoga around the city will become cleaner.
The delegation also visited an Art residency in Sortavala created within the Karelia CBC Programme.
A working meeting was held with the Programme Director Marko Ruokangas where the parties “synchronized their watches” regarding the implementation of the current Programme and the preparation of the new Programme 2021-2027.
