CBC Programmes participated All Russian Forum at St Petersburg

Cross-Border Cooperation Programmes 2014-2020 implemented between the Russian Federation and the Republic of Finland demonstrate in many terms very essence of good neighbourhood and cooperation. Joint allocation of 178.7 million euros from the European Union and participating countries provide possibilities to empower the regions as prosperous and interesting hub and investment target in Northern Europe, to promote their attractiveness and wellbeing of population, and to invest on innovations, research and education for the future generation. Three CBC Programmes, South-East Finland – Russia, Karelia and Kolarctic, are operating and concrete tools supporting also those topics included for this year’s themes in the All-Russia Forum, on 23-24 October 2017.

Round table of ‘Russia-EU 2014-2020 Cross-Border Cooperation Programmes: Environment as One of the Top Priorities’ framed with the Year of Ecology in the Russian Federation summarized well one of the main objectives set for the Cross-Border Cooperation; to improve the environmental situation in the Programme area. This is a cross-cutting approach in all actions supported by the Programmes and each project proposal have to consider their actions towards existing environmental strategies and whether their activities promote positive or negative impacts during the action and after. In addition to these general requirements, each Programme include specific priority having strong focus on environment, nature, safety, ecology and climate issues.
