By the end of the year, the contractor plans to complete the construction of the thermal circuit of the facility.

On November 28, the Head of Karelia Artur Parfenchikov visited the construction site of a water treatment plant in Sortavala during a working trip to the Ladoga region.

The facility is being built under the regional program "Clean water" as part of the national project "Ecology". By the end of the year, Promenergo JSC plans to complete work on the creation of the heat circuit, and to complete the project by May 31, 2021. Currently, the city needs about 4 thousand cubic meters of water per day. However, due to plans of activate housing construction in Sortavala, the demand will increase, so water treatment facilities are being built with a significant margin – the capacity of the new treatment plant will be 8 thousand cubic meters per day.

The construction of this facility is synchronized with the large-scale modernization of the entire water supply system in Sortavala, which is carried out within the framework of the international project of the Karelia CBC Programme. The leading partner of the project is Karelvodokanal LLC, the provider of water supply and sanitation services in Sortavala. The project includes the construction of water intake structures with the pumping station of the first lift and the reconstruction of the pumping station of the second lift. After the completion of all works in the city, the quality of drinking water will significantly improve.
