Seminar in Petrozavodsk

As part of the project "Innovations, research and education for the road and transport sector as an engine for expanding cross-border business cooperation" a seminar was held on April 03 with the participation of Finnish and Karelian road professionals. The seminar was organized by the Karelian regional Institute of continuing professional education of Petrozavodsk State University. On the Finnish side, the seminar was attended by the heads and specialists of the Finnish Transport Infrastructure Agency and Centre for economic development, transport and the environment of North Savo.

The seminar was attended by students of PetrSU and representatives of organizations of the road industry of the Republic of Karelia, totally more than 40 people.

Project Manager Sergey Koshelev told about the project and the current progress of its implementation. The presentation of the preliminary results of the analysis of the road network of the Republic of Karelia was made by associate Professor of technology and organization of construction of the Institute of forest, mining and construction Sciences Danila Rozhin. The Finnish colleagues presented their reports. Presentations were done by Director of Centre for economic development, transport and the environment of North SavoTommy Huttunen, Head of international relations Department of the Finnish Transport Infrastructure Agency Yuri Mustonen and coordinator of international projects of the Center Raimo Kaikkonen. Their speeches concerned the organization of road works, projects of EU-Russia-Finland cross-border cooperation, peculiarities of winter road maintenance in Finland.

The KA1029 project "Innovation, research and education for the road and transport sector as an engine for expanding cross-border business cooperation" will continue until the end of October 2019. Within its framework, research will be carried out to analyze the road network, the interaction of the road network and the economy of the region, the analysis of the educational needs of specialists in the road industry, in order to develop modern and practice-oriented educational programs.
