Final seminar within Speak business project

On January 19 a final online seminar was held within the framework of the project “Speak Business: Strategic planning and project management for cross-border area” (KA4049, Karelia CBC programme), which had being implemented since November 2018. The project partners are Karelian education development Fund, Russian Presidential Academy of National Economy and Public Administration (RANEPA), Karelian Branch, University of Eastern Finland in Joensuu and Management Institute of Finland (MIF).

Project experts and teachers from the Russian and Finnish sides presented and discussed the projects developed by the participants, discussed the results of the project implementation and further pans for cooperation. The seminar was attended by Gennady Saraev (Chairman of the Karelian Education Development Fund), Alexey Tsvetkov (Head of the Department for International Cooperation of the Ministry of Economic Development and Industry of the Republic of Karelia), Mikhail Mukhin (First Deputy Director General of the Development Corporation of the Republic of Karelia), Dmitry Bazegsky (Head of the local office in Petrozavodsk, Karelia CBC Programme).

Svetlana Myaki, an expert of the Karelian branch of RANEPA, notes: “The topic of new project ideas has emerged thanks to the results of research work carried out with Finnish partners. In the process of conducting research, it was possible to connect potential participants in cross-border relations, find a mutually beneficial economic interest and determine the willingness to cooperate. The role of RANEPA in international projects is to provide relevant knowledge within the framework of new communicative models of interaction between project participants, also because of the active implementation of digital learning formats."

Within the project implementation period:

  • training courses were developed for various target audiences - students and adult trainees: "Project Management and Strategic Planning"
  • a sociological study was conducted "Study of the obstacles and prospects for the development of cross-border cooperation between Finland and Russia". The results of the study became the basis for the development of training programs.
  • a group of teachers from the Karelian branch of RANEPA - project experts were trained in educational organizations in Moscow and St. Petersburg on project management and strategic planning, what could be considered as an additional resource for improving teaching at RANEPA.
  • training and certification of 6 project experts and 20 participants from among students in the field of PM Standard project management was organised.

One of the results of the project was the establishment of a Capacity building Center for Project Management and Strategic Planning on the basis of the Karelian branch of RANEPA. On the basis of the newly established Center it is planned to develop programs for professional retraining and advanced training in project management and strategic planning (including online courses), organize certification of project management specialists in the Republic of Karelia, provide consulting services on strategic planning and project management.
