On March the 3rd, the seminar "CULTURAL TOURISM AND THE BEST PRACTICES OF LEADING MUSEUMS INDEVELOPING TROURIST PRODUCTS FOR CHINESE TRAVELERS", the project team members gathered together to discuss the urgent project related issues.

The Finnish project partners met the director of the Museum of Fine Arts of Karelia Natalia Vavilova, and the partnership agreement on the project "Museums in focus" was signed with the Museums of Joensuu.

The issues related to the implementation of the project and organization of upcoming events were discussed as a part of the business program. This spring, study trips to Moscow, St. Petersburg and Helsinki are planned for the project team to get acquainted with the experience of organizations that have already applied China-friendly solutions on their sites and developed services for Chinese tourists.

During the meeting much attention was paid to providing internal and external communication within the project realization, and it was also decided to use the official information platforms of the partners, social and mass media (television, radio broadcasting, print media), and etc. The partners exchanged plans for developing of museum services and products: the “audio guide” service, a visual navigation system, souvenirs and the creation of the Kalevala exhibition in the Museum of Fine Arts of Karelia.

Sami Tanskanen and Pauliina Kaasalainen, the project team from the Museums of Joensuu, visited Petrozavodsk for the first time. The colleagues from Russia introduced and showed the Museum of Fine Arts of Karelia and its expositions, collections, interactive zones. It was also very important to look at the premises (the former repository of  the ancient Karelian icons), which will be used to create a section of the permanent exhibition dedicated to the Kalevala epic poem.
