The second educational seminar «Waste management in the villages of Kizhi skerries»
The second educational seminar «Waste management in the villages of Kizhi skerries» was held on April, 29. The seminar was organized within the CBC Karelia project KA5033 SUPER (Sustainability Under Pressure: Environmental Resilience in natural and cultural heritage areas with intensive recreation).
The reports were presented by the Head of Conservation and Monitoring of the Natural Heritage Department of Kizhi Open Air Museum Tatiana Pavlova, she told the participants about the Project, as well as about the waste collection rules of on Kizhi Island and the results of the separate waste collection implementation.
The regional operator LLC «Avtospetstrans» representative explained the current situation and the perspectives for the waste collection system development in Medvezhyegorsky district, moreover, he emphasized the importance of the dialogue with locals and authorities.
Yuri Protasov, senior environmental engineer of Kizhi Open Air Museum, speaking about the waste situation on Kizhi Island, highlighted the existing territorial and legislative restrictions. One more report was devoted to hazardous waste.
Eco-blogger, volunteer of the first Kompost-mobil – Margarita Bekirova presented the successful eco- and separate waste collection projects in Russia and Petrozavodsk, e.g. My cup, please; Refill, Sbor-mobil, Kompost-mobil and etc.
