Seminar: Cultural tourism and best practices of leading museums in developing tourist products for Chinese travelers
Venue: The museum of fine art of the Republic of Karelia
What is the difference between Chinese tourists from European and Russian tourists, what are the preferences of travelers from the Middle Kingdom, what affects their choice of places to visit during a trip? What is necessary to do to the regions and attractions in order to be ready to receive Chinese tourists? What is there about Karelia on the Chinese internet? Leading experts will answer these questions at the seminar, director of humanitarian cooperation programs at the Russian-Chinese Analytical Center, and Anna Sibirkina, deputy executive director of Non-Commercial Partnership OMIT “World Without Borders,” head of the China Friendly program in Russia.
Representatives of the federal museum , who have already created information enviroment and services for Chinese tourists (State Historical Museum, State Museum-Reserve "Peterhoff" ), will share with seminar participants their own experiences in creating the china-friendly enviroment and certification services.
The seminar‘s Finnish expert will be Irene Wai Levin Mo, an art historian and cultural anthropologist who studies in the fields of philosophy, mythology of art and religion. With extensive experience and knowledge in the field of Chinese, Japanese and Finnish art and folklore, she regularly participates in intercultural development projects. At the seminar, Irene will share ideas on how to present Karelian culture in a format that Chinese tourists understand.
