"Museums in focus" at the round table in Hermitage
On April 1 - 2, 2021, the Department of Tourism and Special Programs of the State Hermitage (Saint-Petersburg) held the annual Round Table "The Museum and Problems of Cultural Tourism" in ZOOM where the problems of museum work with visitors, projects, new programs aimed at improving museum tourism, prospects for cooperation between museums and tourism organizations were discussed.
The main topic of the round table in 2021 was “the real and virtual museum”. Tatyana Saltykova,a project manager, took part in the 19th Round Table on April 2, 2021 as a speaker. She presented to more than 100 participants the results of the first year of work, taking into account the outbreak of coronavirus infection. She talked about the modernization of the entrance area of the Museum of Fine Arts of Karelia, the renovated souvenirs area, the development of a new navigation system, as well as a major event - the creation and opening of the new section of the permanent exhibition “Kalevala Universe”.
The results of the project aroused interest among other speakers and the conference participants. As a result of the round table, a collection of articles will be published, where it is planned to present the experience of the Museum of Fine Arts of the Republic of Karelia.
