The InterActive History project visited the group "Joy for elderly people" in Utra

Project coordinator Reetta-Mari Kellokoski from North Karelian Museum visited Iloa ikäihmisille (Joy for elderly people) group in Utra on October 10th and introduced InterActive History project and Utra district’s history for the participants.

   

Iloa ikäihmisille group is a part of Ehtoovirkku project organized by ViaDia Joensuu association. Ehtoovirkku project aims at organizing participatory activities for elderly people in Rantakylä-Utra district.

Day of Finnish literature and author Aleksis Kivi was celebrated on October 10th in Finland and therefore, Reetta-Mari Kellokoski has brought lots of books related to Utra district with her and she read the books together with group participants. Participants got acquainted with timber rafting traditions and history of Utra sawmills for example. Conversation was lively and puzzles representing old landscapes of Utra district were solved. There was also discussion about traditional food receipts and Reetta-Mari performed a couple of folk songs related to Utra district’s history.
