The first contact meeting for the course Strategic planning and project management in Finnish-Russian cooperation context (4 ECTS) was held for Finnish students in Joensuu 26.2.2020.

First time ever University of Eastern Finland and RANEPA (Petrozavodsk, Russia) are organizing a joint course on strategic planning and project management which is organized on the both sides of the border.

Meeting the objectives of the project Speak Business, the special course will give it’s 9 Finnish and 15 Russian students knowledge on how to plan, manage and execute a successful international business project. The course will give basic knowledge on international sales and marketing strategy as well as communication in international business setting, and even some guided language learning is included.

During the first meeting UEF project coordinator Sonja Kortelainen presented the course requirements and a concept of project planning. Moreover, the students got acquainted with the Russian project drafts, which the Russian students have been working on since last autumn.

The course starts with an independent learning period, but in March the students will get an opportunity to use their communication skills in practice, when RANEPA students come to Joensuu to joint lectures and workshops.  The Finnish student will also prepare their business project plans and during the contact days the drafts will be developed further in cooperation with the Russian students. Hopefully after the course there will be at least five common project ideas.
