The second part of the festival network under the project "Big Music for Small Cities" was held on November 24, 2020. Again, the participants got a lot of tips for developing their own festivals and also got acquainted with new experts in the field.

Susanna Markkola (Culture Finland), familiar from the first seminar of the festival network, had once again guided the participants with a task to be filled in advance, which encouraged them to consider future partners and forms of cooperation. Susanna’s own speech included prospects for future tourism, its trends and signals.

Based on research data, Aleksandra Shakhnovich (Visit Finland), a Russian tourism expert, presented the characteristics of a typical Russian tourist. The participants heard e.g. the interests of Russian tourists, why Finland is interested to them, Russian tourism trends, the future prospects of travelers from Russia and how a Russian customer finds events in North Karelia.

Annika Huotari, Marketing Manager of the Joensuu City Orchestra, showed a comprehensive presentation of the marketing strategy, told the online audience why it is important to exist and how it should be done and planned. The topic was discussed jointly in a small group among all participants.

Sirpa Lahti (Maetka) brought her own perspective on festival marketing. She highlighted e.g. with the idea of human-to-human marketing effectiveness: marketing needs a face. She also recalled the power of microcontent producers and related parties in marketing. Social media and related parties can multiply the visibility of your marketing.

Many thanks to all the experts! You once again provided the festval representatives with valuable and practical close information.
