Pilot Segezha in Karelia

On 3rd of September 2021, Dmitry Bazegsky got acquainted with the technological solution works carried out within the framework of the project KA5041 "Green technologies in the field of tourism to reduce the negative impact on the environment" (NatureBeST) at "Segezha" hotel. The lead partner of the project is PetrSU.

Project manager Sergei Koshelev and representative of “Segezha” hotel Alexei Sidorenkov presented the new individual heating station; a transition to a closed heat supply system with weather control of the heat supply from the heating network that increase the efficiency of the building heating system thus reducing the cost of compensating for heat losses. According to the engineer, it is currently the most modern heating station in Segezha region.

Alexey Sidorenkov noted that the heating system of the building has also been improved: the heating system has been reconstructed, balancing valves have been installed for more efficient distribution of the heat exchange between the buildings; thermal insulation of the pipelines was done to enhance uniform heating of the heating devices, and the balancing of the building heating system was carried out by adjusting the flow rate of the coolant in the risers.

In addition, the hotel kitchen’s supply and exhaust ventilation system was reconstructed. The supply ventilation unit is mounted outside the building and is equipped with a recuperation section to provide heating of the supply air with extract air, which removes excess heat from the room. These measures made it possible to abandon the use of the heat carrier of the heating network for heating the supply air and reduce the consumption of thermal energy.

The process of monitoring and evaluating the economic effect of the innovations is ongoing. According to preliminary data, current savings are at least 30 percent.
