Physical Training Environment for Healthier Life (KA2010)
Nowadays many people feel lack of information about possibilities of open ecological space as well as accessible sport territories and objects for comfortable living in border areas. Tourists are not aware of places where they can go in for sports while they spend their holidays in target areas. People with special needs form the particular target group who lacks publicly available properly designed physical training facilities and experience deficit of information on availability of the facilities.
The project goal is to fill information field with relevant data and increase awareness level of local community and tourists about health and fitness services in border areas. The particular focus will be made on the people with special needs. Petrozavodsk and Joensuu are chosen as target areas.
Implementation period of the project is 01.11.2018-31.10.2019.

Project Partners
Petrozavodsk State University (PetrSU) is the largest university in the North-European part of Russia. It successfully combines traditions of classical education and fundamental science with innovative decisions in the fields of physical education, sport and health care. It is regularly placed among the best universities of Russia according to different rankings. Today more than 14800 students attend classes in various undergraduate, graduate and post-graduate programs. They are taught by over a thousand professors, including 550 PhDs, 145 Doctors of Science, 26 members of state academies of science.
Eastern Finland Sports Institute (ISLO) is one of 14 sports centres in Finland. These centres educate professionals of sports and health. ISLO has about 100 students and staff of 25 people. ISLO is financed by Ministry of Education and Culture and City of Joensuu. ISLO has also a hostel, coaching center and sports massage clinic. ISLO is situated in Joensuu center beside the Mehtimaki Sports Park.
Project objectives
1) investigate awareness level about publicly available sports and physical training services in Petrozavodsk and Joensuu among people living in and visiting these cities;
2) survey the availability of sport and physical training facilities for people with special needs in Petrozavodsk and Joensuu;
3) analize stakeholders involved in physical training environment development;
4) develop a project draft aimed at masterplan for enhancing urban physical training infrastructure particularly available for people with special needs. The target cities for the project are Petrozavodsk and Joensuu.
The main outputs the project will produce
1. A report containing the detailed information on public awareness about sports and physical training services in Petrozavodsk and Joensuu among people living in and visiting these cities.
2. The detailed data on the availability of sport and physical training facilities for people with special needs in Petrozavodsk and Joensuu.
3. Stakeholder analysis for regular project;
4. A Masterplan Project application pack for enhancing urban physical training infrastructure particularly available for people with special needs.
The project budget is 48 395 euro.
