World Heritage Sites in Russia and Finland
Speakers from Russia and Finland shared experience in the sphere of management, preservation and development of Wooden World Heritage Sites.
More than 50 participants gathered in online format on the international seminar, dedicated to wooden historic monuments – world heritage sites (WHS).
Presentation of coordinator of WHS “old Rauma” Aino Koivukari aroused interest among participants. Aino told about the old part of town which includes about 600 domestic buildings and 800 inhabitants, who live in those houses, have to agree all exterior and interior repairs.
In the video Ano and Timo Holgeri told history of their family house from the beginning of XIX century. They told how the building was changed over time and was adapted for family requirements
Ulla Rahola presented the Old Church in Petajavesi and informed about peculiarities of preservation, development and usage of the historic wooden building.
Juhani Kostet, former Director General, Finnish Heritage Agency presented information about WHS of Finland and managing documents.
Specialists of the Kizhi Museum, Olga Titova nad Alexander Lyubimtsev shared experience in the sphere of management of WHS “Kizhi Pogost” and restoration of the Curch of Transfiguration on Kizhi Island.
